Update manually
This page is not being served over a secure connection, so the browser will not allow access to connected hardware.
Your browser was not allowed to open Blinker. That is a permission setting on your computer rather than a fault with the device.
The manual route doesn’t require your browser to have USB access.
No browser on iPhone or iPad can connect to Blinker directly — they all use Safari, which has no USB access. Copying the file across can still work: on recent iPadOS, Blinker shows up in the Files app while it is in update mode. If it does not appear, use a computer.
Put Blinker in update mode
- Connect Blinker to this computer with a USB cable and switch it on.
- Hold STOP and RESET together for five seconds.
- The display shows four dashes. Blinker is now waiting for firmware and will not respond to anything else.

Your browser can talk to Blinker directly. Once it is in update mode, select “RP2 Boot”.

What changed
This Blinker does not report its hardware revision, so this is shown for reference rather than checked. If you are unsure whether this release fits your unit, ask before installing.
Do not unplug Blinker while it is updating.

Keep Blinker plugged in. This takes a few seconds.

Blinker should have restarted and the display should be back to normal.
The update did not finish
Blinker is not damaged. Its bootloader lives in the processor and cannot be overwritten, so it can always be recovered: switch it off and on and start again.

Download the firmware
Blinker checks the file before installing it, so a partial or corrupted copy is rejected rather than installed.
Drag-n-drop it to Blinker
- With Blinker in update mode, it appears on your computer as a USB drive named RPI-RP2.
- Drag the downloaded file onto that drive.
- The drive disappears on its own after a moment. That is the sign it worked: Blinker checks the file, installs it and restarts by itself.
